Tour Highlights
What's included
Itinerary
Option : (not included) ½ day visit to the medina and the Ben Youssef Medersa including transportation and local guide : we will start with the typical Jewish quarter or Mellah.
Then visit the different quarters of the souks and the medina. Registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985 and spanning some 1100 hectares, the medina of Marrakech, like most old Moroccan cities, is surrounded by ramparts that spatially delineate the old city from the new. This wall is pierced by several gates more or less monumental. The quarters of the medina can bear the name of the neighboring gate, a zaouïa, a mausoleum, a mosque, a palace, a traffic axis, or a traditional name. The medina of Marrakech hosts the souks which you will discover, including the spice souks, babouches, ironworkers, copper... Each trade is historically structured and established in a delimited area of the medina, in the form of corporations with strict rules and a professional hierarchy with apprentices, the mâalems, master craftsmen and master of apprenticeship, guardians of the traditional ancestral artisanal know-how. We will end with the Ben Youssef Medersa. The Ben Youssef Medersa is not only the most important Quranic school but also the largest in Morocco, founded by the Sultan Abdallah al-Ghalib, its construction was completed in 1565. It has 130 rooms that could accommodate up to 900 students.
We will join the road at Foum Zguid. Lunch (not included). Continuing towards Tissint. Arrival at Tissint, majestic at the gates of the Sahara. Water points and greenery on one hand, sand dunes and desert plateaus on the other, the landscape here is worthy of a science fiction setting! A true green exception in a lunar environment, the oasis and its surroundings hold many attractions to be discovered: ancestral architecture, natural wonders, authentic culture, breathtaking landscapes... Attributes that make Tissint a must-visit stop on this route between Tata and Foum Zguid. Our driver will take care of retrieving the key to the residence where Charles de Foucauld stayed during his exploration of Morocco at the end of the 19th century.
Then, heading to the famous Attiq waterfalls, an excellent vacation spot. Located near the village, these waterfalls create spillways that feed the palm grove. They are also distinguished by their salty water, known for its healing properties. Dinner and overnight stay at Kasbah Tissint or similar.
